Don’t Forget To Watch UFC 284 at The Still

Grab Some Brewskis to Watch Makhachev vs. Volkanovski
It’s probably not a good idea to tick off a UFC Fighter right before fight night. Yet UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev isn’t happy with how his title defense against Alexander Volkanovski has been promoted. In his defense of…well, his defense, it is a super fight and a matchup between the No.1 and No.2 pound-for-pound fighters. It’s not like it’s been Russian weather balloons floating over the United States lately. So, to put a little hype in for a fight night that’s got a great deal of potential here’s a reminder that Saturday, February 12th, you can catch UFC 284 at The Still!
Main Match Up
UFC 284 sets lightweight champion Islam Makhachev against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, the No. 2 and No. 1 pound-for-pound fighters, respectively. As Volkanovski is stepping out of his weight class, he’s technically considered the underdog. For those who think a 10lb difference isn’t that big of a deal, remember it’s a difference in pant size, elevator rides, and whether or not the bone breaks. Despite competing up a weight class, Volkanovski doesn’t want people to count him out. He told the MMA Hour that he knows Makhachev is a great Dagestani wrestler but wants people to remember he’s a good striker who knows the game and its patterns. He’s confident. He also doesn’t want to hear that Makhachev lost because his longtime coach Nurmagomedov “The Eagle” won’t be with him ringside. If Volkanovski does succeed in upsetting Makhachev on Saturday, February 12th, he’ll be only the fifth simultaneous two-division champ in UFC history.
