The Still’s Beer of the Week: Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout by New Holland

MLB All-Star Week is upon us, and The Still’s ecstatic to watch one of the greatest players of all time–Albert Pujols–in his last dance at the Home Run Derby on Monday. In honor of his 22 seasons and 684 career home runs, we’ve selected our heaviest hitter on the list as a salute to The Machine. While it doesn’t have 2,169 RBIs or a Slugging % of .542, The Still’s beer of the week, Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel, does have some impressive stats of its own.

Dragon’s Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout

From: Holland, Michigan

Brewery: New Holland

Style: Aged Imperial Stout

ABV: 11%

IBU: 30

Pairs Best With: Beer Battered Fish and Chips

Why It Slaps: Holland Brewery describes this beer by saying “Legends don’t happen by chance. They come from a series of moments, leading one that’s remembered forever.” If that doesn’t also perfectly describe Albert Pujols then I’m a monkey’s uncle. This brew is rich and has strong tones of coffee and chocolate with a little hint of vanilla and oak from being aged in a barrel, reminiscent of Dominican Daddy Pujols with his barrel arms and strength like an oak tree. Like Albert, you’ll only need one of these to get the job done, but if you’re a true champ as well, then keep swinging for the fences and putting them away.

Review: “I will bet money that Dragon’s Milk was what Albert Pujols had in his baby bottle. Like a little baby baseball Pop-Eye.”
